Greater Curtin Master Plan

With Architecture Studio was part of a multi-disciplinary team commissioned to prepare a detailed master plan for the development of Curtin University. The new activity centre will contribute to the state government’s conception of a city-wide knowledge arch to foster the growth of Western Australia’s research and learning strengths.

The Bentley Specialist Centre is a 114 hectare site, to be known as Greater Curtin, will be served by a new light rail and bus service integrated in to a dense and vital urban environment that will accommodate over forty thousand people.

Greater Curtin is an initiative that responds to the rapidly changing and increasingly competitive environment within which contemporary universities now operate. The Master Plan has been developed in response to the University’s vision and strategic objectives.

With a focus on innovation, Greater Curtin will be the place where arts and culture meet science and technology to become a creative and vibrant living laboratory and urban economy.

The objectives are to create a distinctive people-focused environment; a vibrant, creative city that will accommodate academic, research and other University purposes; residential precincts; retail and commerce activities; sporting, entertainment and recreational parklands.
