Form Apartments

Form apartments is a key housing development in the Port Coogee Marina Precinct, where residents enjoy beachside living with close proximity to the amenities and urbanity of the City of Fremantle.

The program of 50 apartments is distributed into 3 apartment blocks, grouped into a courtyard configuration. The largest 5 storey block has North aspect and uninterrupted views over parkland, while the 3 storey West facing apartments overlook the vast Indian Ocean.

The architecture draws from precedents of industrial scale and form by incorporating an expressed gable end to the 5 storey Northern Block. Apartment balconies are uniquely configured to be almost entirely enclosed, using louvres and sliding fabric screens to control the exposure to prevailing winds and sun. The balcony ‘pop out’ forms also use a polycarbonate facade material to allow light into the apartment plans and create an intriguing layering to the facade.

Form apartments challenge some aspects of the established model to deliver commercial multi-residential developments in WA. The designs have been rigorously resolved with early contractor involvement, to develop details and building elements that are buildable and offer a high-quality finish for the developer and building occupants.
