The Summer

The Summer is a 33 apartment oceanfront development located on the coast a few kilometres south of Fremantle.

Apartments range from one and two bedrooms on the lower two levels, and three-bedroom double-level apartments on the top floor. All apartments have generous balconies.

The façade features bold forms constructed from textured white pre-cast concrete panels and aluminium panels and sliding screens on the balconies. The screens are fabricated from brightly coloured fabric inspired by beach towels and can be adjusted to provide protection from the wind or sun.

The convex form of the development affords each apartment ample natural light, ventilation, and excellent views, some overlooking the beach and the Indian Ocean.

The design has been awarded Australia’s first Green Star Multi-Residential Building Design (MURT) as assessed by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). Based on the NatHERS ratings, The Summer apartments average 7 Stars, with some apartments even exceeding 9 Stars. This means that The Summer’s rate of energy consumption is less than half of the BCA requirement for the whole building.

The Summer is developed by Match in partnership with investors Hawaiian. Construction was completed in 2012.
