With_Architect Studio has been awarded Yanchep Secondary College Stage 2. This new stage will be completed and ready for occupation late 2020. Stage 1 hosts 725 students in permanent accommodation including science and computing laboratories, specialist woodwork, metalwork and home economics rooms, 33 general classrooms, a gymnasium and extensive sporting fields. This new Stage include a performing arts centre, as well as minor refurbishments to Stage 1 facilities. The school is designed to give students access to specialist subject teaching and the best learning practices to promote success and excellence.
The masterplan for the Yanchep Secondary College campus clearly arranges the key learning spaces along a two-storey east-west access for good solar orientation, with specialist buildings arranged on an intersecting north-south axis. The latter serves as a windbreak in the windy coastal location and allows for outdoor student social spaces to the east of the site. The crossing of the two axes provides a covered social hub with access to key facilities (Library, Cafeteria), and delineates quadrants as a variety of different spaces for varying school age groups. The new Performing Arts facility will progress the overall master plan by forming the southern courtyard, thus increasing the campus footprint and civic presence in this growing suburb.
